2017 New Swan Apprenticeship in Acting for Theatre
New Swan Apprenticeship in Acting for Theatre
July 31-August 11
Experience the one-of-a-kind New Swan Shakespeare Festival! Train in acting for theatre and audition preparation through coursework including voice, movement, improv and more.
Students will work alongside actors from our New Swan Shakespeare Festival and esteemed UCI faculty as they participate in sessions that reflect the coursework taught to our undergraduate drama majors. Material will focus on Shakespeare and contemporary performance, as well as voice and movement. Additional studio and classroom-based sessions will also be offered that help students prepare for the collegiate and professional world. Some sessions may be split based on students' levels, but all students will work together towards final piece. The Academy will end with a final showcase for family and friends (more details to be shared).
There will be no auditions for acceptance into the program, but we do ask that students submit a video and personal statement. These materials are reviewed by our instructors to get a better understanding of every individual's levels and goals in order to properly structure their lesson plans to meet the students' needs.
Scholarships and Financial Aid are available!
Please ensure that you have thoroughly reviewed the Student Handbook regarding all important information and policies for the Summer Academies in the Arts.
