Contemporary Dance Immersion

The Contemporary Dance Immersion (CDI) is a partnership between UC Irvine's Claire Trevor School of the Arts (CTSA) and the Irvine Barclay Theatre providing opportunities for CTSA Department of Dance students and Orange County area high school students to gain insight into contemporary dance through interaction with the contemporary dance companies performing as part of the Irvine Barclay Theatre's season.

The mission of Contemporary Dance Immersion is to provide students with insight and immersion into the world of dance at the highest level, to allow them to explore the mechanics, function and logistics of these touring groups, to inspire and motivate the scholars as artists and to develop their sense of aesthetics, knowledge and awareness of contemporary dance. CDI scholars receive two free tickets to the companies' performance at the Barclay and get exclusive access to the companies through lectures, master classes, backstage tours and Q&A discussions.

This 2018 season, five (5) advanced dancers from Orange County area high schools will be selected to participate in each CDI experience. They will receive two (2) free tickets to the company’s performance at IBT. Students must be available to attend the performance at IBT to be eligible to participate in the program. Additional activities may be planned in conjunction with each performance including master classes, Q&As, and tours, and will be confirmed at a later date, with the selected students being notified as soon as possible.
