Room & Board (40%)

Participants will be staying in a double occupancy room with separate suites for each gender in one of UCI's first year housing communities, Mesa Court.  Bathrooms are also shared and separated by gender, with individual gender neutral bathrooms available.  Roommates will be assigned by the Summer Academies Program Coordinator with the intent to meet students outside of your Academy area, though participants can request a specific roommate.  Residence halls have commons areas, such as a TV room, kitchen and study lounge for residents to enjoy.  Each participant is provided with a meal plan (breakfast, lunch and dinner) every day of their stay, beginning with lunch on their first day of class and ending with lunch on their last day of class.  Meals will take place in the Mesa Court's new dining facility, The Anteatery.  Laundry facilities with card operated machines, as well as other community spaces are also available on-site for use and enjoyment.  For more information on what Mesa Court has to offer, visit their website.

Evening & Weekend Activities (30%)

Activities both during the evenings after classes and the weekends will be incorporated into the participants' schedules.  These can range from craft nights in the hall's common room, to movies at the Trevor School outdoor amphitheater, to trips to Orange County's beaches, museums, trails, amusements parks and more.  Costs for admission and transportation are included in the overnight fee.  Participants will always be accompanied by the counselors.

24-hour Supervision (20%)

Summer Academies Counselors are current undergraduate students at UCI.  These individuals will be residing in the residence halls with the students for the entire duration of the program.  They have knowledge and experience with our campus and all its available resources, and are available to the participants as support systems, point of contact, chaperones for trips, policy enforcers, but most of all, are here to make your overnight experience enjoyable and memorable.  The counselors are trained and supported to handle all types of situations, whether big or small, emergency or non-emergency, and have direct contact with Summer Academies professional staff at all times.

Summer Academies Course (10%)

Costs for your course are included in the overnight fee, including all supplies for Art students.  The primary reason for you attending the Summer Academies is to grow as an artist, and therefore, we do expect all participants to attend all their classes.  Unless excused such as an illness or emergency, participants will not be allowed to stay in the residence halls during class time.  Please note that unfortunately at this time, we will not be offering the Overnight option for all our Academies.

Student Handbook

All Overnight participants must download, review and sign the Summer Academies in the Arts Student Handbook.  This handbook includes policies and procedures regarding the Academies, as well as further details on staying overnight, including a list of recommended items to bring, schedules, and rules and guidelines to campus residential life at UCI.
