Scholarships, Financial Aid & Discounts
We understand that summer programs can be a financial strait, and therefore, we want to ensure that our Summer Academies in the Arts program is accessible to all students. Below are the different forms of financial assitance we offer. If you need additional assistance or have further questions, please contact the Outreach Department at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Thanks to the support of the Nicholas Endowment and the Pacific Life Foundation, we are able to offer full and partial scholarships to participants who demonstrate artisitic excellence and financial need. At least four full scholarships will be awarded to participants, with at least one full scholarship in each of the four disciplines - Art, Dance, Drama, and Music. The amount of scholarships are awarded based on number of applicants received in the year, as well as available scholarship funds.
Please read the scholarship guidelines and complete the online Scholarship Application Form by April 30, 2017 at 11:00pm in order to be eligible. Incomplete and late applications will not be considered, no exceptions. Recipients will be notified via email by May 22, 2017.

Eligible students will have demonstrated artistic excellence and financial need through a competitive application process. Students should be interested in pursuing an artistic discipline as part of their college or career path, and are in good academic standing.
To be considered to receive a Summer Academies in the Arts Scholarship, students must submit all Scholarship Application materials consisting of the following items:
- Scholarship Application Form: Please fill out the following online form completely. Incomplete applications will not be considered.
- Artist Statement: Should be no more than one (1) page, typed. Applicants should consider the following with regard to their artistic discipline: why you are applying for this scholarship, why you do the art form that you do, why you chose your discipline and medium or style, what does it mean to you to practice your discipline, what is your goal?
- Artistic Work Sample:
- For Art Academies: No more than three (3) images of recent visual artwork, or a three (3) minute short film.
- For Dance, Drama and Music Academies: An audition video, no more than three (3) minutes in length. Videos must show the applicant only. Videos of ensembles will NOT be accepted.
- Images should be JPEG files not to exceed 1MB. Videos should be MOV or MP4 files.
- Letter of Recommendation: Should be from teacher or instructor who may speak to the student’s artistic excellence and perceived financial need.
All application supplemental materials must be uploaded to a secure file/video-sharing site (ie. Google Drive, DropBox, YouTube, etc.) with a link to be included in the online application.
Evaluation and Award
Applications will be reviewed according to artistic discipline by faculty or staff of the Claire Trevor School of the Arts. Applications will be heavily weighed based on artisitic excellence, academic standing, personal and professional goals, and finanical need. Scholarship amounts shall may be used to offset commuter registration costs only, and may not be used to cover the cost of housing, meals, or credit. Scholarships are subject to course enrollment and, though we do not anticipate needing to take such action, may be cancelled should enrollment not be sufficient.
Deadline & Submission
Applications must be completed and submitted no later than April 30, 2017 at 11:00pm. Incomplete applications will not be considered. Scholarships will be awarded by May 22nd* and recipients will be notified via email. *Should there be a delay in the selection process, candidates will be notified via email.
Students may apply for finanical aid to help subsidize registration fees. The chart below demonstrates the financial aid percentage available to qualifying families:

This chart is based on the 2017 Health and Human Services Federal Poverty Guidelines.
In order to receive financial aid, please complete the Scholarship Application Form and submit at least TWO WEEKS PRIOR to the first day of the Academy in which you intend to enroll. Submission of supplemental materials are not required if applying for financial aid; instead in those fields, please type "Financial Aid". Household income and family size will determine the size of the aid awarded to the student. Applicants will be notified regarding the status of their application within two weeks of receipt of the application, and will then be given a promo code to register online. Please note: Summer Academies do have enrollment limits, so we suggest submitting your application as soon as possible to secure your spot.
Students also have the option of setting up payment plans should they not be able to fully pay for their registration upfront. Please contact the Outreach Department at email@example.com for more information.
Special discounts on registration for the Summer Academies in the Arts are available for our returning scholars and UC Irvine's faculty, staff, and alumni. Contact the Outreach Department at firstname.lastname@example.org to get your PROMO CODE. Discounts are subject to change and availability.
