FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS


 

The FAQs below are examples of a few questions that we receive regularly regarding our Weekend Academies. If your question is not answered below, please contact the Outreach Department at artsoutreach@uci.edu.  We are happy to help!
 

Our Weekend Academies are meant for middle and high school students.  Depending on the workshop being offered, it may just specifically for middle or high school, or it can be a mixture.  Refer to the individual courses for more information.

We try to host Academies for students of all levels.  But depending on the workshop being offered, an Academy may list speficially any level requirements on the registration website.

Scholarships are available to all students with an interest in attending an Academy and are of financial need.  Please email artsoutreach@uci.edu to find out more information and to apply.

All students will check in around 30 minutes before the Academy to submit their required paperwork, and from there, the Program Coordinator will take them to their classroom/studio.  Once the Academy is over, students will be dismissed.

Parents/guardians may drop off/pick up their students on the third floor of the Mesa Parking Structure, which has direct access to a pedestrian bridge that connects directly to Claire Trevor School of the Arts, or at the loading/unloading area in front of the Bren Events Center on Mesa Road.  Should parents/guardians choose to park and walk their student over/meet them after class, please note that UCI has strict parking regulations and you will have to obtain a parking permit.

If you are a teacher, yes.  There may be certain excpetions to this, but you can contact the Outreach Department at artsoutreach@uci.edu if you are interested and to coordinate times to visit.  If you are a parent/guardian, unfortunately, no.  We want to create a comfortable space for all our students to openly express themselves and grow.  

However, some Academies do offer a portion of the day for parent/guardian participation, so look to each individual program for these opportunities.

Full refunds will be granted for cancellations made more than two (2) days before your Academy.  Cancellations made after two (2) but before the day of, will be granted a partial refund, minus a $20 late fee.  Cancellations made the day of the Academy will not be granted a refund.
